City of Langley Wayfinding (2018)
The City has been working on improving its wayfinding signage since 2017. Two background documents, City of Langley Wayfinding Strategy Draft and City of Langley Project Summary and Recommendations, were prepared with input from an advisory committee and citizen commissions. In August 2018 a consultant was hired to prepare a final strategy.
City Council approved the final plan at its regular meeting on November 17, 2018. Phase I sign fabrication and installation will be completed before the end of 2018. Funds have been budgeted to fabricate and install phase II signs which will take place early in 2019.
First Street/Complete Street
In 2016 the City of Langley was granted funds from the State's Transportation Improvement Board to make improvements to First Street between Anthes Avenue and Wharf Street to make this part of First Street more friendly to pedestrians and make it more of a 'people place.' After considerable discussion and review the final plans have been completed and the City intends to put the final plans out to bid to hire a contracter who can complete the work. The final plans were reviewed by the Design Review Board at its January 15th meeting and recommended approval to Council at its January 22, 2019 at City Hall. Council granted final approval of the plans.
