Langley Wastewater Treatment Facility
In 1992, the secondary wastewater treatment plant was constructed
at the southwest edge of the city on Coles Road. Treatment technology
utilizes sequencing batch reactors (SBRs). The location of the facility
requires that household and commercial wastewater be pumped more
than a mile through an 8-inch force main from the primary collection
facility in Seawall Park through two lift stations.
When the current
facility came on line, the primary wastewater treatment facility
in Seawall Park was removed, and the old manholes and outfall were
abandoned. The old treatment tank was converted into a generator
building with an observation deck on top. The City's treatment capacity
is now 150,000 gallons per day.
