Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission performs duties established by state law relative to the selection, appointment, and employment of full-time permanent employees of the Langley Police Department, including the chief of police.
The Commission has three (3) members who are appointed by the mayor and approved the the City Council. Commission members are appointed for six (6) year terms and serve without compensation. Other qualifications include: U.S. citizen, Langley resident for three (3) years prior to appointment and a registered voter.
The Commission meets as required to perform its duties. Meeting notices are posted at least 24 hours before the meeting date.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION VACANCY
City Of Langley Civil Service Commission. The City of Langley currently has openings for volunteer Civil Service Commissioners. The Commission promulgates rules and regulations for testing, examination and appointment; suspensions and discharges of police officers and other related matters. The Commission meets on an as-needed basis. The commissioner must be a US citizen, have resided within the city limits for the last three years and be a registered voter. Term is six years.
